Project |Discovering Insights from Small Businesses Financial Data for Intuit Inc.
Intuit Inc. has collected a huge amount of financial data from their app QuickBooks. My capstone team, with five members of virous backgrounds, work together to discover insights from the data and create innovative data solutions.
This one-year project involves the whole process of product development. We focused on markey survey, competitior analysis, design thinking and preliminary analysis of data to initiate and modify our idea. This semester, we are going to start heavy data analysis. Python and R are the main analytical tools we use.

Project |Mobile Data Analysis by Machine Learning
With mobilde data that records people's locations at different time and zoning data that records the information of different zones in San Francisco, people's trip and activity behavior were analyzed using Latent Dirichlet Allocation Model. Ten topics of daily behavior were extracted.

Project |Database and Website Design for Wetravel.to
Wetravel.to is a startup founded by an MBA candidate in the University of California, Berkeley. He found his current database structure is not satisfactory and wanted to have a new database designed with improved entity relationship. I designed the database according to the business model of Wetravel.to and implemented a website for the business manager to easily add and edit the information of the most important entities.

Project |03 Genetic Algorithm for Bus Route Design in Hong Kong
There was increasing complains from the local redidents in Tin Shui Wai, Hong Kong that the current bus nextwork in this area is not efficient to fullfil passengers' needs of convenience. This research project is carried out to optimize the arrangement of the bus routes in order to minimize the weighted sum of nuber of transfers and travel time with genetic algorithm. The algorithm was implented by Matlab.
